I had a question from a LC who is working with a mother of a nine-month old
baby. The baby is fussy and refusing to nurse, (nursing strike). The
mother's menstrual cycle has returned and it all seems to coincide. What we
were looking for was documentation of the fact that the milk changes flavor
because of the menstrual cycle and hormonal changes. Is there something out
there that supports this--or is this anecdotal? We know that a mother can
experience a decrease in milk supply during the menstrual cycle, but does
the flavor of the milk actually change?

Looking for further clarification. I have checked BREASTFEEDING ANSWER
BOOK, Ruth Lawrence's book, and Kathleen Auerbach's book all as references.
I also looked through the Lactnet Archives and didn't find any matches.

Hope you can help. This is something I hadn't looked into as being
documented somewhere before.

Warmly,
