Does anybody on this list have an up-to-date list of references about the possible impact that epidurals may have on breastfeeding? I have been put on the spot by our attending anesthesiologist for the following statement that I make at our monthly breastfeeding class. "Breastfeeding babies may be affected by the things that we do during and around the time of labor including the use of pain medications and epidurals."

One of the anesthitists argued with me that the "medications that we use don't get into the baby"

Any comments would be appreciated.
