I have a question, or rather one of our adoptive mothers has a question and I
want to know, too. When a mother induces lactation, as in nursing an
adoptive infant, is the first milk that she producess colostrum? Or is
colostrum related to birth? Vonda says that she had different milk at first
and that it looked like colostrum. A friend also helped an adoptive mother
some time ago and she said that that mother's first milk did look thick,
yellow, etc. So, is the first milk in induced lactation colostrum or just
something similar?

Another question: Vonda is nursing her 14-month-old adoptive son (the one she
had a full milk supply for at two months) and is about to adopt again. (Yes,
she knows that she'll need to induce again and that nursing a 1+ year old
does not mean she has an adequate milk supply for both him and a new baby.)
The question she has is -- will she have colostrum this time? (Assuming she
did the first time.) (My question is, If so, how?)

Thanks for your response.
