I think it helps to have a good collection of photos of different breasts/nipples/areolas, to reassure teh mother - also to help aspirant lactation consultants and others see that there is a whole range out there!  There are some good collections of visual material out there.  A good place to start would be Kay Hoover and Barbara Wlson-Clay's Breastfeeding Atlas.  You culd also - with permission of the mothers - build up your own collection of pictures of the normal range of shapes and sizes.
     I once saw a poster saying somethign to the effect of, "There ae only 8 super-models - the rest of us are NORMAL."  I think this bears thinking about.
