Joyce Coleman's example of thinly veiled advertising for artificial feeding
is shocking. That a health care facility would allow itself to be duped
into giving out commercially based, inaccurate info is bad enough. This
information is so bad (as in incorrect) I almost want to laugh. But it is
not very amusing when you realize what a coup it represents for whatever
commercial interest is behind it.

What references are listed? Who is listed as the author? Where is it
printed? There should be a small logo on it somewhere if a 'real' printer
did the job. No health care facility with legal counsel should be caught in
such a grossly compromised position in terms of liability. They could be
sued for handing this out, and they probably should be. LC's can not be
party to the dissemination of such misinformation and still practice in
accordance with the ILCA code of ethics.

One need hardly point out that finding such material on the premises of a
facility striving for Baby-Friendly accreditation would effectively prevent
such accreditation. There are standards for what sort of info facilities
must provide to pregnant women. This example violates every one of them.

Joyce, I understand your shock. Let us know what happens, OK?
