A deep felt thanks to all the friends on this list and I do think of you
as my friends. I started to read Lactnet several years ago when the
hospital IBCLC came to speak to us here and the health department and
told us about it. I have always had a passion for breastfeeding,
breastfed my oldest for 14 months in 1973 and my second for a bit over
two months in 1981. (She went on a nursing strike when I returned to
work and I had no clue about how to do this, pumping was going well with
one of those bicycle horn pumps too.) I have always had regrets, she is
my "sensitive " kid, the one who could never wear blue jeans because the
belt loops felt like logs.
Last fall, I heard about Dr. Riordan's internet class here, inquired and
took it in the spring, wonderful class, and took the test in July. I am
normally a pretty confident test taker but didn't feel confident about
passing. On Friday, the early birds got their results, on Saturday I
rushed to the post office, nothing, I have a post office box so went
this am before work, nothing. On my way back to the office after a head
lice visit, I decided to check again, even though I knew there would be
no more mail and there my results were, I opened them immediately and
stood in the empty post office sobbing when I realized that I had
passed. I owe thanks to a lot of people and to this list for all the
discussion, research citations and support. Thank you all.
