Dear Fiona,
I'm not sure I'd suspect a let-down problem if a mom who had been pumping ok
suddenly dropped off after a "uterine" infection followed by a "period." If
mom has been ill, esp. bleeding, she may have depleted energy stores. While
baby may be able to cont. to obtain enough milk, it may be difficult to have
much extra for pumping. The N----- --- pump is semi-automatic. While it
may work well if mom has a robust supply, it may have problems elicting a
good prolactin response in a mom with a depressed supply. My guess is her
let-down would work better as her physical cond. improves. I'd prob. want to
investigate the medical cond. to see if there is something there creating a
primary cause for the depressed supply. then with rest and recovery she will
prob. recover. She could try a fully automatic pump.
