I recently accessed the Journals available at Medscape to find articles on
breastfeeding. There were none. I wrote to Medscape and got a prompt reply.
I am posting my letter and their reply in the hope that others LC's will make
similar requests. One pleasant surprise I got at the ILCA conference was:
there are a lot of us out there. We have impact when we let our collective
voices be heard.

In light of the recent AAP statement on the importance of breastfeeding,
please add journals like the JOURNAL of HUMAN LACTATION to your list of
accessible journals.
Under Pediatrics, please include articles about breastfeeding. Breastfeeding
should be the norm. One block to maternal success is lack of Physician
information and support or misinformation on the part of health care
providers. Your prompt attention to this matter could have a far reaching
effect on the initiation and duration rates of breastfeeding in this country.
Sincerely,
Susan Ann Slear, RN,CLC,CCE

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll pass them along to our editorial staff.
