Ok, held my tongue long enough on this issue to everyone around me who has
brought it to my attention. Seriously, checking BMI at 6 months is
ridiculous. You are talking about babies who are hardly moving around
fully yet, structurally under-developed and muscles that are jsut being
used. If we had checked my sons BMI at 6 months I dont even know what they
would have found...100% breastfed and a huge rolly poly. I am not talking
about a roll here and a roll there (those of you who are reading and knew
Steven understand) he was one big roll after another! Now he will be 2
next month and as a fellow colleague said when she saw a picture recently
of him, "I never thought lanky would describe him!"

Breastfed babies get big and then grow and we see it every day! Formula
babies over the years have shown us they get bigger but not as tall, thus
maintain so much extra weight. The study made no attempt to circumvent the
differences between the two at all. Enough on my rant, I am preaching to
the crowd...just had to get my .02 in since all my formula friends saw
that and said see BF didnt matter...ahhh ignorance is bliss, maybe that
should be the new slogan for formula...
