She was probably referring to the study by A Lucas, R Morley, and T J Cole,
titled "Randomised trial of early diet in preterm babies and later
intelligence quotient" (BMJ, Nov 1998; 317: 1481 - 1487).

It's not a new study,  but I believe it was in the newspapers a few weeks
ago. I've only read the abstract, but I do know that there was no
exclusively breastfed control group .
