We must be making some progress! While it is extremely annoying to
see the ways the ABM companies are trying to get their samples to
the public, it does indicate that their original method (having the
hospitals and doctor offices do their advertising for them) is no
longer as effective. As more and more hospitals stop doing this,
moms are now coming in with their little coupons telling them to ask
the hospital for their "gift". And many feel that that coupon is
equal to a ticket to some event. They present the coupon therefore
they are entitled to the bag! Now it seems if they can't get the
samples to the moms before they leave the hospital, they will try as
soon as possible afterward, and nurses that make home visits are the
next alternative. I suspect it is the cheapest advertising just to
have the hopspitals hand them out for them. I am sure it costs more
to target sources such as VNA, so they wouldn't be doing it if the
cheaper route were still working well.

Yes, we need to stop this practice. While we are doing so, let's
smile just a bit-we're beginning to have them "on the run". Let's
not, however, let up-keep the pressure on no matter what methods
they come up with. New moms are a prize market that they are bound
and determined to tap no matter what.

Winnie
