My mom with the recurring mastitis is now finding when she pumps the infected
breast there are clots of something in her milk. It doesn't appear to be
blood although it clots like blood. It's kind of off white and if she pours
it back and forth from bottle to bottle, it will break apart. The OB has
finally changed her antibiotics because they finally cultured the milk and
found it to be a staph that was resistant to the former antibiotics. I
suggested she have the OB send the clots to the lab. Can anyone shed any
light on what these clots are? I have suggested that the mom also take 2 T
lecithin granules per day. Please share your wisdom and suggestions with me.

Warmly,
Pat Lindsey, IBCLC
