Well, yes, of course..... a human milk component called leptin is believed to
be useful in combating obesity. It has been patented (and I can't go into
that on this list because it is considered off-topic). The discovery and
"invention" of leptin is considered useful in the pharmaceutical and food industry
(infant formula, too)

I recognized a name on the list of researchers for the study on obesity in
the journal, Circulation; and it was Ekhard Ziegler, professor of pediatrics at
the University of Iowa. This study was funded by the Infant Formula Council
as well as the Foman Unit (which Ziegler is/was the director of). The Foman
Unit receives grants and conducts clinical trials for Ross, Nestle, and Mead
Johnson. Ziegler has received honoraria from these very same companies (stated
in the study in Circulation).

Ziegler is or was the medical director of the Iowa milk bank and he is also
on the advisory council to HMBANA. see

Thus, an advisor to our human milk banking system, is paid by the infant
formula industry. But I guess that's OK cause we all have to learn to get
along.....besides the WHO Code is unworkable in the USA. So as long as we believe
privately in the WHO Code, we needn't practice it publicly in our professions or
institutions.
