Yup and they also have one for car seats now. The baby zips right into it
with just his head sticking out the top. I am told that it is now the *must
get* item for baby showers.
Maybe I'm a little slow, but believe it or not I have just caught on to the
fact that parents are now being sent home  told not to use blankets-at all!
When did this change from not placing blankets near the baby's face or not
using fluffy comforters?
Checking out Marsha's (Indiana) brochure for safe sleeping confirmed what I
have been hearing in bits and pieces from parents but *assumed* that they
were misunderstanding!
Where is the research that shows that one or two *carefully* wrapped blankets
will result in SIDS? Do we give parents credit for any common sense?
Just saw a couple the other day, 1st baby, they were thrilled with the
nursing help but also shared some general *baby* concerns- the most urgent
being that the baby was up all night. How normal! I told them but on further
discussion it seems they had placed their 4do in the basinet with a t shirt,
socks and nightgown, only! They were told explicitly by their pedi not to use
any blankets but somehow missed the part about the blanket sleeper-this is
winter in New England! These are college educated people and more than a
little worried that I was going to *deem* them unfit parents.
The fact that not using ANY blankets for bed is so foreign to our society
makes the obviously assumed *correct* implementation of this dictum
questionable.
