Hi ladies,

I need help. I just had a call from one of my students that gave birth in
August. While in my series, her boyfriend decided to call it quits and
date someone new (whom he is currently living with). Since the birth
(baby-2months) he and new honey filed suit for custody. Mom is
breastfeeding exclusively, and doesn't want to give it up or pump. She
would like a letter from me stating the importance of not separating the
two until at least solid foods are introduced or better yet, for the first
year (Judges recommendation). The baby has never taken a bottle yet.

Another bit of info - dad is alleging she is abusive to baby by stating
that she used drugs in pregnancy. I knew her from the beginning of her
pregnancy, and although her nutrition could have been improved, she did'nt
take drugs. She submitted to a hair follicle test today, to confirm her
status as a non-drug-user, but who knows what else he'll have up his
sleeve.

I have to fax her the letter by beginning of next week. HELP! Any
thoughts, words, statements, facts...

Thanks in Advance,

Lisa Simpkins CCE, CLE, CD(DONA)
