I think it's also important to remember that any corporation is
obligated to it's shareholders not to do anything that would, in
effect, help their competition.  As I understand it, they cannot
legally do anything that would undermine their own sales.
Another thought - who really pays for the so-called breastfeeding
pormotion materials that these companies put out?  The bottle
feeding mothers, of course.  This is one point both breastfeeders
and bottlefeeders can agree on-formula companies should avoid
so-called promotion of breastfeeding.  (Now if they really did fully
promote breastfeeding without all the subtle other stuff....but even
then, the name of a formula company associated with breastfeeding
perpetuates the notion that formula is a normal part of
breastfeeding.)
