We are in exactly the same position, we have a District health Board employed dentist who is willing to be trained.

Please find attached documents from another DHB that we are planning to adapt to our area.

Regards Sue

Subject: Hospital Policies for frenulotomy/frenulectomy referral to DDS

Hello,

I very much appreciate all of the wisdom and advice from this fantastic community of lactation consultants!

I am a hospital Lactation Consultant/Breastfeeding Coordinator working in a Baby Friendly Designated Hospital. A wonderful thing occurred which is thar our chief of Pediatrics successfully negotiated with our Director of Dental services who has agreed to do in house frenulotomies for babies with significant difficulty with breastfeeding due to ankyloglossia. Now they have asked me to work on creating a hospital policy/procedure related to this. Has anyone here created one or worked on one they would be willing to share? If you are able to share it would be greatly appreciated.

My e-mail is: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Barbara Holmes MS, RD, IBCLC
