Greetings...... I've worked this week with a baby who has a long tongue.
She exercised it with a thrusting motion whenever she was awake (more
than most babies play with their tongues, I think.) She has a tendency
to suck her tongue, also.  Mom learned from the start to be sure she was
latched with a wide open mouth and to re-latch when the baby slipped
partally off the nipple. They went home today, Mom feeling a bit of
nipple tenderness, but otherwise OK.  Is there anything to watch for
with this couplet?  They wll be back to our Newborn Clinic on Friday and
I plan to see them at that time. So far, "it ain't broke....."
