[This is a press release is selling a product, but it does point out some interesting research. This research points out the need for moms to be in the dark, in order to produce melatonin, that will in turn help them and thier babies sleep better. I would think this would be supported by co-sleeping, much more than bottle-feeding, which requires getting a bottle, sitting up and feeding it to the baby, etc, rather than just latching the baby on.

Melatonin, the sleep hormone, appears in breast milk in proportion to the amount in the mother's blood. Exposing the eyes to the blue component in light suppresses melatonin. A typical mother may only be in darkness a few hours and make very little melatonin. Wearing glasses that block the blue light or using blue-blocking light bulbs may allow her to make more melatonin that will help both the baby and her sleep better.

See link above for full press release.
