I don't often have the need to do any formula prep discussion, but am fascinated by the reaction of people when I tell them what the actual Health Canada recommendations are. They don't believe it - many mothers I talk to mix formula powder with lukewarm tap water and also make up large jugs in the fridge. I have yet to meet a single parent who is aware of the guidelines or the recommendation to avoid powdered formula entirely in certain circumstances - including parents of medically fragile/premature infants.

Even when they are presented with the actual guidelines, they refuse to believe it because how could they label the product/teach its use the way they do if it were really necessary. "It must just apply to the third world...." (except they ARE Canadian guidelines).

Given how many babies are supplemented, this is a big hole.
