To camp on to what Karleen shared about her friend with PCOS who was able to
induce lactation successfully..... Yes, there is a whole spectrum of
breastfeeding experiences for women with PCOS, from one end to the other. I
discovered in my casual survey of a PCOS support board that while there were
an unusual number of women having trouble making enough milk, there were
also a number who complained of problematic overproduction. So it is always
wise to discreetly note the history, including overall mammary gland shape
and development and pregnancy responses, and then follow up closely to catch
the ones who end up having insufficient milk production. They are the
minority of the population of PCOS, not the majority, and represent one side
of the bell curve.
