I would suggest to this client to have the baby assessed by genetics. It's
not her milk. It's not the formula per se putting on weight. First offer
enough volume which means enough calories. If the baby is limited in the
amount of volume he can take that's where adding calories and not adding
volume can come into play hence the powdered formula. If the baby accepts
more volume and the mother is not making that volume then increasing her
milk production with various strategies including galactagogues would help.
