Ann:  I don't know where they got the statement that this drug gets into
breast milk.  Often, there is a generalization based on all drugs of that
class regardless of mode of administration, so if the orally administered
steroid is known to enter breast milk then the generalization is made for
all, even if breast milk levels were never done with other forms.  I
don't have any actual data for flonase, but one of the known advantages
of nasally administered steroids is their low absorption into the
bloodstream, therefore the lower risk of steroid side effects compared to
taking them orally.  It is likely that the amount in mother's blood and
therefore her milk is very small.  If prednisone taken orally is
compatible with breastfeeding, then this is unlikely to be a problem.
