Way to Go, Rachael!!!!! Now ALL of us in the US should follow her lead (send
letters to these companies and consumer groups) and also send a copy to our
congressfolk. Maybe enabling legislation is exactly what we need! With
another election year coming up, might be a good time to put the family
jewels (babies, I mean) on the campaign trail!!

And now for the "etc." All you exam phobic people out there-- Queen
Insectivoria will lead you in a visualization.......Picture yourselves
bright, alert and well rested. You will take your places in a large room and
there will be an "electric" atmosphere when you sit down. Take several deep
breaths, picture a giant aura of light surrounding all of you (that will be
the mind melding of all of us Lactnet supporters out here sending you our
best wishes to relax, let the brain waves flow and do your very best). Feel
just how powerful you are as you carefully read and answer every question.
You will remember similar cases discussed on Lactnet. At the end of the
day, you will feel tired but eager to get your exam results because you know
you did your very best! Trust me, this really helps--the olympic athletes do
it, so can you. Do this several times per day so your brain understands what
it is supposed to do. If you don't believe me, try this exercise. Stand up
and extend your dominant arm out to the side, making a fist. Ask someone to
push your arm down while you resist (my 8 year old thought this was a blast).
Then, put your arm down and say 10 times "I am a weak and worthless person"
(yes, its a tongue twister and most people feel dopey doing it, but just do
it). Then, raise your dominant arm again and have your partner try to push
it down while you resist. Again, put your arm down. Now say "I am a strong
and worthy person" 10 times. Repeat the arm exercise and see what happens.
This is an incredible demonstration of the power of the subconscious mind.
I use it a lot in my teaching of adults and nutrition. I also use it in my
prenatal classes.

Thought for the night: The brain is on top of the body for a reason--it's
supposed to be in charge of the mouth! Sooooooooo "Chew your calories, chew
your calories......"
