On 12-8 Joanne Burke Snyder writes seeking input regarding mother's low wt.
affecting milk production.

Speaking from my personal bf experienc, I know that low maternal wt. does not
cause delayed or low milk production. With my first pregnancy I did not even
weigh 90lbs and gained about 22lbs. My milk came in abundantly on the 2nd pp
day and this was after having a CS with general anesthesia. I never had a
problem with milk supply. As this was almost 22y ago and I was not as
knowledgeable about bf, my daughter did start receiving some formula after
several months and was started on solids too soon. She weaned at 8 mo. With
my next two children, I weighed in the low 90 lbs., gained 20 - 25 lbs., and
with each my milk again came in abundantly on day 2. These 2 children never
ever had a drop of formula and nursed 2 + yrs. I worked part-time and was
always able to pump much more than they took while I was away from them. My
oldest daughter also weighed 90 lbs before she got pregnant. She also had an
abundant supply of milk even though her son was premature.
