This Jan. 2012 (IBFAN)- International Code Documentation Center newsletter was brought to my attention. Lists all of the news from around the world having to do with the WHO Code.
www.ibfan.org/art/LU-Jan_2012-ICDC.pdf

This is a must read!!! - 4 pages. Great perspective on how the Code is being seriously enforced in various parts of the world and what its taken to make that happen! It was good to see a little "slap down" of the formula industry here and there.
There are several important references to the US including a direct reference to Valerie McClain's work and blog - which is riveting, not to mention enlightening!

"Valerie McClain, a breastfeeding advocate, sums up the feeling of disbelief that prevails over the fact that no
E.s. organ- isms can be found in suspected PIF. See these blogspots:
http://www.vwmcclain.blogspot.com/2012/01/emerging-pathogen-enterobacter.html
http://www.vwmcclain.blogspot.com/2012/01/testing-testing-testing-for.html
Ms. McClain questions the methodology. E.s. was found in 20% of samples in 2003 and 2006. She casts doubt on the
integrity of the 2011 tests because of industry funding of researchers and public private partnerships between government agencies and food and drug industries. Powdered infant formula isn't manufactured to be sterile*; it would
require expensive changes in the production process.

The blogs make very cogent points which provide food for thought. Nothing is as clear cut as it seems."
