Jan,
You have touched on one of my pet peeves- that "Christian" parenting program
that schedules feedings for infants. Jesus himself said "If your child asks
for bread will you give him a stone? If you, who are evil, know how to give
good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give
good gifts to they that ask?" This strongly implies that the culture would
never deny food to a hungry child, or His comparison between human parenting
behavior in regard to food and God's generousity would be meaningless.
This apostacy seems to be especially strong in the Southern US. My
sister in law was the only mom bf'ing on demand in her entire church in rural
Georgia. The others were using this 4 hour bf schedule and were amazed at how
big my nephew was in comparision to their infants.
It is very hard to counter these ideas. Parents who take this class
are taught that anyone with different ideas is "of the devil". Well, guess
who I think is "of the devil"?
Sign me: Another devout Christian who does not wish to be associated with the
far right or the other wackos using God's name to advance their own power and
pockets.
