<I have a doula client whose doctor wants her to go on 2 Months of Diflucan.
She is concerned about breastfeeding and her doctor is of no help. She is
wondering what safe doses are for breastfeeding a newborn. Is it even safe
for her to nurse on a 2 months dosage?>

I am not sure why she needs to take fluconazole for so long.
An older baby would probably be of less concern than a "newborn".
If she really needs it, I would suggest she continue to breastfeed, but
perhaps have a blood test on the baby after a couple of weeks to check liver
function. We don't usally need to do this with fluconazole, but this would
be a big dose for a young baby. It is difficult to get level of fluconazole
checked as it is not routinely.
