Why on earth would a woman who's been smoking (and passing along all that
stuff to her nsg. baby) feel complelled to stop BFing because of the patch
she's using to quit smoking?! I'm not making any value judgments in saying
this, but it doesn't make sense - the patch contains smaller, controlled
doses of what's in cig. smoke, and is certainly less harmful to the baby
than the smoking!

I would look at the risk:benefit ration on this & weigh in strongly on using
the patch AND continuing to breastfeed. I hate to have women risk monkeying
around with breastfeeding, with the possibilities of messing it up, when
there is no need to.

Also, have you checked the archives? I'm pretty sure this came up quite
recently.
