I was recently asked where the "4.2 year average age at weaning" comes from.
I thought I'd check with Kathy Dettwyler, since I thought I'd read it in her
book. (and we always say the range is 2.5 -7 years) Then I recalled my
Sociology Prof sharing this fact with the class (she was most impressed
because I knew the answer) several years ago. I guess it's not a huge need to
know, but because someone asked, I thought I'd try to hunt it down.
