We had a week ago our mom-to-mom bf support group's meeting, and I heard
across the room a baby making loud noises while bfeeding (mom sat behind a
corner so I did not see her then). The suction was broken constantly,
actually the baby sounded like the baby in the Simpsons (Maggie?). Later mom
asked by email about the noise.

Baby is now 3 months old, and started making noises about 2 - 3 weeks ago
(when 2,5 months old).

No nipple pain, mom has not noticed visible changes on nipples. Mom says the
suckling feels similar to that before the noises began. Baby has gained
steadily ab. 1000 g per month (+2 lbs). Milk is not spraying forcefully, and
the baby makes noises througout the feeding. Mom felt slightly bothered by
bfeeding in public due to the noises. Mom says the baby feeds faster, sleeps
a bit shorter periods, and seems to be working harder to get the milk. Mom
also says her breasts feel empty, and they don't "fill up" like they used
to. No gas or belly ache. No paci, exclusively bfed. No signs of thrush (the
baby just had had a check-up a week earlier, and the mom checked baby's
mouth again).

Most of what she says sounds 'normal' to me. I told her as long as there is
no nipple pain and the baby gains, the noise probably doesn't matter that
much, and she already had instructions on how to check the the position and
latch.

What might be the cause of the recent 'maggiesimpson' sound?
