From today's New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/21/us/21drug.html?hp

The occasion for this article is the disclosure in the state of Minnesota of just how much
money pharmaceutical companies pay doctors in "consultantancy fees."

My favorite quote:

'For many doctors, marketing lectures are also a welcome diversion.

“It beats talking to little old ladies about their bowels,” said Dr. Eric Storvick of Mankato,
Minn., who made more than $174,000 between 1998 and 2005 from drug makers.'

Lovely sentiment!

Like many discussions on lactnet in the past, this article gives many examples of
pharmaceutical companies (the same companies that sell formula) buying the loyalty of
HCPs with lovely restaurant meals, exotic vacations, and cold, hard cash.
