Because your mother has been exposed to antibiotics and because she did
have some response to the antifungal medication (Diflucan) then a fungal
infection may be her problem.  However, both the mom and baby dyad need
to be treated.  A topical antifungal cream  applied to the
mother's nipple may be helpful.  Treatment would need to last several
weeks.  If the baby needs a prescription antifungal product the
pediatrician should be able to prescribe it.
