Next week I am going to be going a lunch hour inservice for some office nurses - OB/GYN and peds. I have asked them for their input on what they want to know about, but my contact has not been very helpful as yet, except to say that they need guidelines for storing pumped milk. So, if any of you out there work in an office, what are the questions you get most often from your moms? I am assuming the usual - sore nipples, engorgement, what kind of pump should I get, is my baby fussy because he's not getting enough to eat, how often should my baby be nursing, will he sleep through the night if I give him formula before he goes to bed - the kind of stuff we get doing postpartum followup from the hospital. With only an hour, I want to get the most bang for the buck, so to speak. Am going to bring handouts and a copy of the BAB and MMM to see if they would like to purchase either. Haven't inserviced an office for quite a while, so just wondering what's going on these days. TIA for any suggestions.
Warmly,
Sharon Knorr, BSMT, ASCP, IBCLC
