I'm not smart...I only took the cue from someone else who gave me an idea
of how to manage this mountain of information that flows our way nightly.

Ok - here's what I do.
I have a Macintosh (hope this isn't advertising :-)....) and digests don't
work well for me. I receive each posting separately. This way I can toss in
the garbage or save more efficiently.

I have created a general file called LACTATION. In this file I have many
folders in which I open different documents. As a posting comes through on
a subject that already has a document, I simply open the document and paste
on the new posting.

Example: In my LACTATION file, I have a folder called MEDICATIONS. In
Medications I have documents on DepoProvera, Thorazine, etc.etc. When
someone makes a contribution about one of these I just paste it to its
appropriate document.

Another example: One of my folders is HIV. So when someone asked about what
we had on Lactnet, I remembered my trusty document...went to it and just
copied what was there and shared it. Voila!  That was the first time I had
occasion to do this and was surprised how well my invented filing system
worked.

Last example: One of my most important folders is called LACTNET FRIENDS.
In this folder I have separate documents for all of you gals who have had
some personal correspondence with me. When you write something new, I just
annex your most recent communique to your existing document...sort of like
adding another paragraph to an already existing letter.

Enough said.  I hope this helps some of you who are drowning in paper.  I
rarely print stuff, unless it is needed for some special purpose.
