To any and all LCs considering responding to this request: please
consider reporting not only documentable failure-to-thrive, but also
mention all cases of mismanagement which, without intervention, would
have become failure-to-thrive. In addition, I believe it is also
important to include in the category of "health" the mental health of
the baby. I have just received a report of an "Ezzo baby" whose
nutritional FTT status appears to have been resolved by some changes,
but who is now exhibiting behaviors of severe eye contact avoidance,
most likely indicative of infant depression. The emotional/psychological
effects upon the baby are as significant as the physical/nutritional
ones and deserve to be highlighted as well.
