This may not apply at all, but it triggered an association in my head. I
just read an article by a mom who experienced postpartum psychosis and one
of the major descriptors prior to her psychotic break was feeling wired
all the time, particularly after breastfeeding. Again, this is probably a
zebra diagnosis, but I wanted to offer it as a consideration.

Incidentally, since I haven't introduced myself and am mainly lurking, I'm
a general surgery resident who has become very interested in lactation
after overcoming significant obstacles in the first 2 months of
breastfeeding my son, who is now almost 10 months and has had only one
bottle of formula when my supply plummeted at 3 weeks. I'm actually
considering breast surgery as a specialty now, not that I would have much
opportunity to do lactation research (which appears mostly limited to
pediatricians), but out of a newfound respect for the breast (and a desire
to spend more time with my delightful baby boy.) Though if you know of
any breast surgeons who do lactation research, please, let me know. I
would love the contact.
