We are currently doing an updated hospital policy for our drug addicted moms. Subutex is fine to breastfeed with, however is it safe to switch the breastfeeding mom who has been taking subutex during pregnancy to suboxone immediately postpartum and to breastfeed with this. Would the Narcan not precipitate the withdrawal in the infant?

Wonder if the mom has been on suboxone during pregnancy... and continues taking the suboxone...is it then safe to breastfeed?

Any help appreciated.
