Hi, I've been a Lactnet lurker for awhile! I've been leading LLL
meetings for 10 years and 6 years of IBCLC in private practice.
I have a baby I need help with and would like you guys expertise. I have
mom's permission to post. First time mom with twins, born at 32 weeks, 3
pounds each. Girl was nursed at the hospital, boy stayed 10 days and
never put to breast. She now wants to exclusively breastfeed instead of
pump and bottle. The girl went to the breast great with reward from SNS
at breast, boy keeps tongue on roof of mouth. It is even difficult to
get a bottle in his mouth trying several times to get the tongue down.
So, going to the breast is even harder needing many hands to get breast
in mouth with SNS, keeping tongue down etc. I checked the archives for
raising tongue, elevated tongue and lifting tongue with not much info.
Babies are now 7 weeks and 7 pounds and change.
Any advice other than to sew his tongue to bottom lip (only kidding) on
how to keep it down or train him to keep his tongue down?
Thanks,
Patti
