I have had moms need a larger flange on one breast and use the regular on
the other. This happened with a mom who had one breast give lots of milk
and the other nothing at all. Upon doing an assessment, I found the
sinuses of this breast very much deeper than the other - and tried the
larger glass flange with great success. Perhaps we should be using them
more often when moms find they don't give much milk...

I understand that Medela has a plastic soft flange that is smaller than the
large glass one and larger than the standard one. Has anyone used them and
compared them? The glass are SO expensive and delicate it is difficult to
decide what to do with my very poor WIC clientele. I know, hand expression
- but what if they won't?
