Well, I don't know if 'all' includes men, but if they're breastfeeding then
I think they should get breaks with pay too.
The largest labor organization in Norway has made front page news with this
demand for the next round of pay and contract negotiations. At present only
employees in the public sector are paid during BF breaks, and we can take up
to two hours a day if need be. The law *only* gives breastfeeding mothers
the right to reduce their work hours by one hour a day, and says nothing
about pay. The aim of this change in the rules is to make it easier for
women to share parental leave with men.
I'm very happy that this organization is going to bat for a pet issue of
mine. My paper had a delightful picture of a non-newborn baby looking
blissfully at a naked breast, complete with erect nipple, as the eye-catcher
for the story, on the front page. Unfortunately the photo was not in the
online edition.
:-)
