I missed this discussion last week. It's my understanding that if the babies are almost all breastfeeding, there won't be much formula to buy. The system now encourages waste and over use. All on the backs of formula feeding mothers.($$$$) If there were some way to monitor how much formula is taken by individual hospital personnel, it would help alot. Even if a local population isn't enthusiastic about breastfeeding, nurses are obligated to provide quality, evidence based care, and they are legally liable if they don't. Why don't they understand this? How is this different from infection rates, fall rates, etc.? It isn't.
