I have been seeing so much misinformation being passed along to
new/expecting parents lately that it is making me crazy. I think since some
places are at least trying to clamp down on pre and near term inductions,
the newest trick is to tell parents that they have low fluid levels and they
need to be induced right away. Ugh... I even had one doctor convince a
mother that her baby had lost 6 ounces overnight and needed to come out
right away. (And guess what... once the baby was born, he was almost a
pound and a half larger than they had said he was!)

Today I had a discussion with the new dad of a 37 weeker. Mom and Dad were
both very set on breast only but the hospital managed to convince them that
since he was a little early that he couldn't keep up his body temperature
and blood glucose levels on his own and needed formula to help with that.
No mention of getting that baby skin to skin and nursing him as often as
possible at all. *sigh* I sent them a link to "Just one bottle" but Dad is
sure the hospital knows more than I do about this. (At least they are
giving him the formula in a cup -as if that somehow makes it all ok.)
