There are many modes of action by which the use of infant formula causes
illness and loss of life. Some components are deficient or non-existent,
others are in excess, others simply can't work in that matrix.
Contamination dogs formula, from environmental contamination to processing
to manufacturing error to end user mishandling. Valerie McClain points out
that by pursuing genetic engineering in creating infant formulas, the
multinational corporations are opening wide an entirely new and potentially
devastating avenue by which babies can be harmed by infant formula.

How about a new ad jingle for the cradle-to-grave campaign:
"Infant formula--it's not just inadequate anymore!"
