Dear Lactnetters:
I just read Laura's post and I think she may be onto something. How many
times have we heard "I don't want to hold the baby too much," "I want the
baby to get used to sleeping in her own bed," "I don't want the baby to think
someone will pick her up everytime she cries," and so on. We have all heard
this stuff a million times. People wanting to "train" their babies so
someone else can take care of them. Please don't misunderstand; I am a
working Mom and very supportive of working mothers. Breastfeeding your child
takes a very real commitment as does raising a child--breast or bottle fed.
But, sometimes I wonder if some folks have missed that concept.
Oh, well. Just my reflections on society and why breastfeeding has to be
such an issue as opposed to the way of life.
