Things to consider with chemo:
Theory: If given in pregnancy, chemo should be even safer in lactatiion. Not
necessarily: Consider this, need to start chemo to save mother weighed
against what trimester she's in (sensitive fetal development issues);
availability of alternate feeding (formula) and need to start "big guns"
chemo once baby is born. Playing devil's advocate here, of course would hope
mother could BF.

Ultimately it is the mother's decision based on consultation with oncology,
pharmacology, and peds (and perhaps others) whether and to what extent
(partial?) to BF or not.

Surely this mother is going through a most sad and terrifying situation and
her fears, concerns, and desires should be taken very seriously into
consideration. I think it is lousy to just say no to her and I wouldn't be
surprised if they are looking at her like she's crazy to even want to BF.
