I am not sure how many times this needs to be said, but I agree with this
statement:

"Wanting more babies to get more breastmilk is not the issue. Code
compliance is the issue."

Perhaps I am just being grumpy today but I fail to understand why people do
not get this. This is not about the products - this is not about
breastfeeding - this is not about anything OTHER than the marketing of
specific products.

If Medela goes back to being code compliant this will in NO way sacrifice
breastfeeding or getting babies breastmilk should mom choose or need to pump
and bottle feed. It simply means that Medela will not be advertising and
glorifying their products in a manner that is unethical and that clearly
violates the WHO Code.

Many have already posted fabulous reasons and definitions and discussions
about this. If you do not understand why Medela violating the code is a
problem go back and re-read. It is clear - this is an ethical marketing
issue. The type of marketing that is being done can sabotage breastfeeding
- not breastmilk feeding - but breastfeeding. Marketing of formula
sabotages breastfeeding. By glorifying their bottles and nipples Medela is
marketing in a manner that is no better than the formula companies. And
they are turning their nose up to the WHO Code.

Respectfully,

Jaye
