I would be highly concerned with a baby that had his tongue hanging out as
you described. The gagging and tongue behavior may or may not have anything
to do with the virus. Sometimes a virus can attack the brain and cause
neurological issues and this sounds neurological to me. The only time I have
worked with infants or children with this tongue "behavior" was with a child
with a neurological condition. I would suggest a neurological assessment
right away.
