I am posting for a mother who is nursing her third baby and has
problems after each child, with early return of menses (as early as
1 month). I have sought some advice privately from some of the
Lactnet resources and have checked the archives. I have been
unable to find information to fit her needs. This mother is a stay-at-
home mom with RN background and is very knowledgeable. Her
period has returned early (1-3 months) with each child, despite
full-time breastfeeding/night fdgs. She has had supply issues and
impaired MER during her period. Pumping has not improved the
issue. Her supply and MER are not effected at other times of the
month. This baby seems to balk at the taste at the milk also (he is
now 7 months old). Taste is suspected because it he balks with
milk pumped at this time also. In the past, the mother has used
Oxytocin nasal spray, but, for personal reasons, does not want to
use that now. Someone had suggested calcium and magnesium
supplements to me. Any suggestions for her are appreciated.

Thank you!
Barb Whynaucht, RN, IBCLC
