In reply to Gromada's mention of demo pump kits, it is always a good idea
to make sure such kits are clean/sterilized before each such demo use.
I, too, keep some kits (donated by previous clients and returned with
pumps) for mothers who cannot afford to purchase them. However, I also
personally sterilize them and then pack them in clean very large plastic
bags that I purchase for this purpose.
All demo pump kits that I use also are sterilized and stored in a place
separate from all others. AND, as an extra precaution, I let mothers know
that they are free to try any and all pumps I have that are for
demonstration. However, they may NOT keep the milk they obtain during the
demonstration. This may seem like overkill in the direction of caution,
but I simply do not want to take a chance.
What do other people do?
